From Gustave Le Gray to Cindy Sherman, Dorothea Lange to Wolfgang Tillmans, the exhibition abandons chronology, bringing different eras, genres and ways of seeing into conversation. Alongside them, 27 contemporary artists from the Maghreb and its diasporas shake up tradition and question what it tells us today about intimacy, gender and community. Photographer, stylist and artist, he mixes Moroccan culture, street culture, fashion and music in instantly recognisable portraits. At the Philharmonie, the images find their soundtrack through an original musical creation by Acid Arab, blending North African rhythms, electronic music and global bass.
